Funniest Male Actor

November 23, 2013 by Suzana Lovell 25 Comments

In most games you spend an awful lot of time listening to the main character. That’s why we decided to list the best voice acting jobs in gaming!

5. John Marston (Red Dead Redemption) – Rob Wiethoff

Voice actor Rob Wiethoff does an excellent job as cowboy John Marston in Red Dead Redemption. His thick old western accent fits the main character perfectly. Marston is a complicated man and Wiethoff is able to convey this in an amazing way.

4. Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid series) – David Hayter

Some think it’s completely over the top … others love it. The performance of David Hayter as Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series gives the hero instant recognisability. Even the longest codec call is interesting thanks to Hayter.

3. Duke Nukem (Duke Nukem series) – John St. John

Who didn’t grow up on quotes like … and …..The unique voice of voice actor John st. John made the politically incorrect and cheesy one liners extremely funny. Duke Nukem might not be as popular as he once was but the voice of mister John St. John will always live on.

2. Nathan Drake (Uncharted series) – Nolan North

Voice acting superstar Nolan North took his craft to a whole other level with his portrayal of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series. Not just his voice but also his looks and motions were captured for the games. This lead to the cool and funny adventurer we all know and love.

1. Master Chief (Halo series) – Steve Downes

Steve Downes is the voice actor behind Master Chief, the main character in the popular Halo series. His gravely voice gives Spartan John One One Seven immense coolness. Downes could read the phone book and still hold your attention.

4 of 5 being console exclusive games, two of which are PS exclusive. PC
Master race, maybe when it comes to Multiplayer, but the best story can
still be found on consoles. <3

This is just a list of the most famous video game voice acting roles. If
they wanted to go for the best actors, David Warner and Patrick Stewart
would be on the list for their roles as Jon Irenicus in BG2, and Emperor
Uriel Septim in ES IV: Oblivion respectively.

Why the fuck is Master Chiefs voice actor no. 1, there are far many more
vc’s worthy of getting first place such as Elias Toufexis (Adam Jensen) or
even David Hayter who deserved to be higher on the list.
Also, Duke Nukem is a shitty character due to lack of original lines.

First of all, this should have been called most iconic voice actor, because
while incredibly memorable and endearing Hayter (I love his snake voice to
death) and Jon St. John are nowhere near the most talented. Secondly, I
almost never ‘dislike’ vids, but Master Chief as no1 did it. As a huge fan
of many voice actors over the years, I was offended by that.

It looks like that they only mentioned lead characters, but leaving out
Kevin Conroy (batman) and/or Mark Hamil (The joker) is just redicoulus…
Mark have one of the most dynamic, fearsome and crazy voices out there. :P

This list is a pile of shit! Jon St. John as Duke Nukem? Seriously?!
And while good, Steve Downes is nowhere nears the best voice actor in
    gaming.

Master Chief and Drake don’t even deserve to be on this list. No offense to
    anyone that likes them.

They might have OMFG cool voices but they read their lines like someone has
literally just given them both a sheet and said: “Here, read these into
    this mic.”

Any “Top VAs” list that doesn’t have Clifford Rippel as the original voice
of Vincent in Silent Hill 3 in it does not deserve to be called “Top 5 Male
    Voice Actors”.

Isn’t it interesting that the female voice actors, for the most part, are
all known for playing lots of different roles and being very versatile, and
the male voice actors, for the most part, are just known for doing one
    voice?
